Two-headed wooden dholak drum that is shaped like a barrel with a tenor and bass head. Drum is held horizontally and played on both sides. Heads are held in place and tuned by nuts and bolts. Nuts can be tuned with a standard wrench, included. In India, these extremely popular percussion instruments are commonly used in folk music and during marriage ceremonies. The shells are manufactured in the Northern Indian State of Uttar Pradesh and made with locally grown neem and sheesham. Ekanda Veena is made from a Single log of wood.The tonal quality of the instrument is much better than the joint veenas.The unique hollow, scalloped fret board is known as the dandi and contains 24 frets, or mettu, often made from gunmetal, stainless steel or bronze.The seven strings are of steel manufacture. The three tala pakarekku or talam are the rhythm and drone strings which are fashioned as subsidiary strings tuned to the tonic, upper tonic and fifth. These are attached to three pegs on the side of the neck that reside on a separate, curving bridge placed aside the main bridge, and are closest to the player's body when held. The other four (main) strings, the sarani, are tuned to the fifth and tonic in two octaves

The Thappu, thapu, dappu or parai drum is a frame drum originated and widely used in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the symbol of Tamil culture. It consists of a circular wood frame with one end closed with cow skin membrane and the other end open. Thappu is played with twosticks, being one larger and thinner than the other one. It is performed in dances, funerals, temple festivals and sport events. Thappu Drum or Parai drum is also played to invoke the deities at Madras temples. Kurunthokai mentions that Parai was used as an auspicious instrument in wedding. It was also used to alert the people in flood time.
